Denne bane blev grundlagt i 1851 og derfor fuld af historie. Den var v\u00e6rt ved det f\u00f8rste British Open i 1860. Dengang var det en 12 hullers bane i stedet for en 18-hullers golfbane. P\u00e5 dette tidspunkt blev Open spillet over 36 huller (3 gange 12 huller). Trof\u00e6et var et b\u00e6lte med r\u00f8dt l\u00e6der f\u00f8r det bliver det noget mere ber\u00f8mte \u00ab\u00a0claret jug\u00a0\u00bb. Dette er en dejlig linksbane med masser af charme. En sjov linksbane at spille med masser af bump. Den 17. er signatur hullet med sine gigantiske bunker.
